Please join us for an upcoming webinar for the Avalon Media System Project.

On October 2 and 3, the Avalon Media System team invited our partner institutions to come to lovely Bloomington, Indiana, for a meeting to discuss development priorities and future directions. Many of our partners were able to make it, but we also wanted to share what was discussed with the wider community and partners who were unable to attend.

As we mentioned in a recent post, we are having a meeting this week in Bloomington with most of the formal partners and advisors on the IMLS National Leadership Grant that is helping to support development of the Avalon Media System, to discuss development priorities and future directions.

Next week the Avalon team will be hosting our second Avalon Media System Partners Meeting in Bloomington, Indiana. Several team members are busy finalizing the meeting schedule and dealing with logistics, while others are finishing release 2.0 of the software--and others still are working on both. It's a busy yet exciting time!

As we planned the meeting, we thought of those burning questions that we are always seeking feedback on:

On Wednesday, May 29, the Avalon team hosted a community webinar. With around 50 participants and no technical difficulties, we consider it a smashing success! Thanks to all who joined us.

Project Director Jon Dunn and Product Owner Mark Notess gave a talk and demo of the Avalon Media System on March 27, 2013, as part of the Indiana University Digital Library Brown Bag series. We had 20 people attending in person and 27 remote attendees. To tempt you into watching the recording, here are some (admittedly poor) photos of yesterday's presentation. I can guarantee that the quality of the recording is much better!

Product Owner Julie Rudder (Northwestern University) presented a poster at the EDUCAUSE Learning Initiative Annual Meeting held in Denver, Colorado, from February 4-6.  You can view the poster here via the Avalon Media System Slideshare account. When Julie returned from Denver, I asked her a few questions about her trip.
